What can I say about Inception? There are many things I could say about Inception, but I will sum it up as this: finally an intelligent movie that is fun to watch and should appeal to everyone. Writer/Director Chris Nolan has made some really great films in the past few years and the ones that weren't Batman (although his Batman movies are really good) have been pretty intellectual while keeping you entertained. Memento, The Prestige, and now Inception shows us that Nolan knows what he's doing when it comes delivering a good script. Read on for spoilers.

Ellen becomes his guardian, in a way, kind of Spoilers ahead Leonardo DiCaprio leads this cast of lesser known yet still all star actors. Each actor from Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Juno Ellen Page. DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb, a man with experience in stealing secrets from people while they dream, also on the run from the law for the supposed murder of his wife. When we first meet Cobb he and Arthur (Gordon-Levitt) are in an interview of sorts. A businessman wants to hire them for some corporate espionage of the highest level. The only catch, he needs them to plant an idea instead of extract one, inception as Cobb calls it. Something that is thought to be impossible to do. Cobb takes on the job anyways because he is promised a clean record back home and could finally go see his children. From there we follow Cobb as he assembles a team to help him plan the heist, err theft, hmm, reverse burglary of ones mind (can you burgle thoughts?). For the plan to work perfectly he needs an architect (Page) to build an intricate dream landscape (why is another reason), a person to give them a chemical advantage, someone to run point etc. Of course the plan is very thorough, but as happens with movies, things never seem to go as planned. The mark has had counter dream attack terrorism training (or CDATT) and his mind attacks our intrepid dreamweavers. Though things don't go nearly as according to plan Cobb is able to adapt to the situation and bring success to the team. The only problem is that Cobb is left in the dream state, maybe.
Guy has some skills One of the themes throughout the movie is how do you know if you're awake or still dreaming. In the movie you can go into a dream while inside a dream, so once you wake up from the dreams dream you're still sleeping out in the real world (is this making sense). So each character creates and carries with them a totem that behaves differently in the dream world than it would in the real world. Cobbs totem is a top that will keep spinning forever in the dream world, and at the end of the movie we see him start it. But he never waits to see if it falls (nor do we), the point being that Cobb no longer cares if he is dreaming or not. Cobb is haunted by the death of his wife. We get glimpses of what happens at various points of the movie, but eventually we find out that Cobb is indirectly (or directly) responsible for her death. He was the only person to achieve inception, and his wife was the recipient of the idea. They were stuck in the dream world, but dreaming inside of a dream inside of a dream and she forgot that. When you are that far down in the dream world seconds in real time become months, and Cobb got tired of spending all those dream years with his wife (can you blame him). So he planted the idea that they were dreaming in his wifes head, but even after they woke she still thought they might be dreaming. So she did the only thing any sane person that thinks their dreaming does, she kills herself (because when you die in a dream you wake up). Because of his guilt Cobbs mind manifests his wife in every dream he enters. She then goes about the dream wreaking havoc and destruction, generally doing things that girls do. That's why the architect needs to build an intricate landscape, so his wife can't find them. That's why the end of the movie is significant, Cobb no longer cares if he's awake or dreaming because he no longer feels that guilt for his wifes death. He just wants to spend time with his children. End Spoilers This is an excellent movie and I would recommend it to anyone. I've read reviews that say this movie is about making movies where Cobbs wife represents the muse that gives the creator inspiration, DiCaprio would be the director... I've read reviews that say this movie is an allegory for how we should cherish our time on this world. It seems that this movie means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but all of these people, myself included, really liked the movie. Go see it, seriously.
